Alro Steel, a Michigan-based metals distributor, has opened a 254,000-square-foot warehouse and processing facility at 1897 West Chapman Road, a site with an Oviedo mailing address in Seminole County.
The company announced the opening in a release dated Oct. 19. Alro said the building gives it far more inventory and processing room in the Orlando market, which it said will mean wider product availability, more processing options and quicker shipping for customers.
What the site handles
According to the company, the Chapman Road facility carries aluminum, carbon, alloy, stainless and tool steel, along with cast iron, brass, bronze and copper. Material is stocked in plate, sheet, bar, tube and pipe form, plus large structural shapes. Alro said the building also has tube laser and plate laser cutting equipment.
Alro has served the Orlando area since 1982. The company said that original Orlando location will remain open and shift its focus to plate processing once the new site is running.
Jobs
The Orlando Business Journal reported Thursday that the expansion adds more than 40 jobs. Alro's own announcement does not give a hiring figure, and the company has not published an investment total for the project. No public incentive agreement for the facility was located in reporting for this story.
The Business Journal first reported Alro's plans for an Oviedo location in February 2021.
