Alafaya Square, the Publix-anchored shopping center on Alafaya Trail in neighboring Oviedo, has a new owner. Phillips Edison & Company, a publicly traded shopping center investor, bought the property for $69.1 million, Connect CRE reported Monday.
The real estate firm JLL, which represented the seller, announced the sale on Oct. 9 and described it as the largest sale of a single retail property in Seminole County history. JLL did not state the price or closing date in its announcement. The seller was a joint venture of MCB Real Estate and an unnamed institutional investor.
The property
The center sits at 81 Alafaya Woods Blvd. on about 21.1 acres and has 168,532 square feet of space, according to JLL. It was 96% leased at the time of sale. JLL said the center was recently renovated, including a rebuilt Publix.
Other tenants listed by JLL include IHOP, Planet Fitness, Arcade Monsters, Keller Williams and Froggers Grill & Bar. The site has access to Alafaya Trail and is near State Roads 434 and 417, the main routes between the center and Winter Springs.
