Bus drivers for Seminole County Public Schools could see a raise approved this week. The School Board's regular meeting Tuesday, Oct. 6, includes the 2026-27 contract with the Seminole County School Bus Driver Association on its consent agenda.
The district and the drivers' association reached a tentative agreement for the 2026-27 fiscal year, and the union's members ratified it on Sept. 22, according to the agenda item prepared by the district's human resources office. Superintendent Serita Beamon recommends approval.
What the raise looks like
The draft contract attached to the agenda says returning employees will receive a 2.5% increase on the current salary schedule. Drivers hired on or after July 1, 2026, would stay on their current step, which the contract calls the entry level.
The district estimates the cost of the raises at $263,009.50, including benefits, covering everyone in the bargaining unit. The item ties the agreement to the district's strategic plan priority of helping every staff member "thrive."
The drivers' contract runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. The board ratified that three-year agreement last November; the version on Tuesday's agenda is marked as the 2026-27 update.
Because it is on the consent agenda, the contract will be approved in a single vote with other routine items unless a board member pulls it for separate discussion.
