The Jacksonville Jaguars elevated linebacker Jalen McLeod from their practice squad for their Week 3 game against the New England Patriots. The move gives McLeod his second opportunity under the team’s three-elevation limit.
McLeod logged 10 snaps on special teams against Denver last week and took part in three phases. He is expected to have a comparable assignment against New England.
Jacksonville will have a different backup quarterback, too. Nick Mullens filled that role during the first two games after being elevated from the practice squad, while Quinn Ewers was inactive.
Mullens was not elevated for this game, leaving Ewers as the backup to Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville has expressed confidence in Ewers’ potential, while Mullens has played in the NFL and has experience in offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s system.
