Florida has added safety Cyion Smith, a four-star prospect from Blountstown, to its 2028 recruiting class. The commitment was reported before the Gators’ game against Ole Miss on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Smith had previously been committed to Mississippi State before ending that pledge on May 8. Florida offered him a scholarship eight days later and became a leading factor in his recruitment. Smith visited Gainesville for the Ole Miss game, and Florida secured his commitment before kickoff.
Rivals’ industry rankings list Smith as the No. 279 overall player, the No. 30 safety and the No. 37 player in Florida for the 2028 class.
Through five games for Blountstown High School, Smith has contributed on both sides of the ball. He has recorded 24 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one blocked kick. On offense, he has seven catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
