Heat rally in fourth quarter to beat Pelicans 128-118 in preseason

Heat close strong

The Miami Heat used a 35-point fourth quarter to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 128-118 in a preseason game Thursday night at Kaseya Center.

Miami led 73-64 at halftime, but New Orleans won the third quarter 32-20 and entered the fourth ahead 96-93. The Heat then outscored the Pelicans 35-22 the rest of the way.

Leaders

Giannis Antetokounmpo led Miami with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting in 18 minutes. Andrew Wiggins scored 13, Tre Donaldson added 12, Davion Mitchell had seven assists and Nick Richards grabbed nine rebounds.

Jordan Poole scored 14 for New Orleans in 13 minutes, hitting three of four 3-pointers. Saddiq Bey and Jaron Pierre Jr. each had 12, Bryce McGowens dished out seven assists, and Yves Missi had 11 points and nine rebounds.

Ball movement and turnovers

The Heat finished with 36 assists to the Pelicans' 22 and committed 11 turnovers to New Orleans' 22. The Pelicans won the rebounding battle 54-47 and made 19 3-pointers.

Miami is 2-0 in the preseason, and New Orleans is 1-1. Attendance was 19,600.
