Winter Springs drivers age 50 and older can reserve a place in an AARP Smart Driver course next Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at the Civic Center, 400 N. Edgemon Ave.

The class runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. The city’s recreation catalog showed registration open for the October session when checked Oct. 9.

The online listing displays a $0 registration amount, but the course itself is not free. The city says participants pay the instructor when they attend: $20 for AARP members or $25 for nonmembers, by cash or check.

The refresher covers defensive-driving situations such as roundabouts and following distances, along with vehicle safety features and changes that can affect driving as people age. The city says space is limited.

Residents can find the October session under AARP Programs in the recreation catalog: https://secure.rec1.com/FL/winter-springs-fl/catalog
