UCF survived six set points to win a remarkable second set Sunday, Oct. 4, but the Knights could not turn that response into a road victory over TCU.

The Horned Frogs took the volleyball match 25–8, 31–33, 25–19, 25–22 in Fort Worth. UCF fell to 8–6 overall and 0–4 in the Big 12, while TCU improved to 13–2 and 4–0.

After a difficult opener, the Knights built an early lead in the second set before TCU drew level. The teams then kept trading chances to finish it. UCF finally collected the last three points to win 33–31, a 64-point set that tied the match.

The Knights remained competitive beyond that lengthy exchange. In the fourth, they fought back from 17–12 down to tie the score at 20. TCU nevertheless closed the set and the match.

The final statistics show where the hosts made the difference. TCU served 12 aces to UCF’s three and hit .333, compared with the Knights’ .208. UCF finished with 55 kills, but its resistance in extended stretches could not overcome those overall advantages.

UCF now returns to Orlando for matches against Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 9, and Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 11. The home stretch offers the Knights their next opportunity to turn a competitive response into a first conference victory.
