UCF answered an early deficit with two quick first-half goals and held on for a 2-1 victory at TCU on Thursday, Oct. 8, giving the Knights their first Big 12 road win of the season.
The result moved UCF to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play. TCU dropped to 5-5-1 and 2-3-0. For Winter Springs-area college-soccer followers, the next match brings the Knights back to Orlando: Oklahoma State visits the UCF Soccer Complex on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time.
TCU opened the scoring at 8:25, but the home side’s lead did not last. UCF equalized in the 14th minute and moved ahead in the 19th, completing a turnaround before either team had settled into the middle stages of the first half.
Alysiah Lockette supplied the winning goal with a header after Gabi Berchon lifted a pass into the box. Berchon was credited with assists on both UCF goals, her first two-assist performance for the Knights. The visitors carried that 2-1 lead into halftime and never relinquished it.
The second half required more defensive work. UCF goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar made a key stop on a one-on-one chance in the 64th minute, with defender Jada Silvest helping clear the danger. TCU continued to press and generated two opportunities in the final ten minutes, including a saved shot and another attempt that went high.
The final statistics underline how little separated the teams in overall chance volume: each finished with 10 shots and three on target. TCU held a 5-3 advantage in corners, while its goalkeeper recorded one save over the full 90 minutes.
