Orlando City's career scoring record changed hands on a penalty kick in first-half stoppage time on Wednesday night, and the player who took it had also earned it.

Martín Ojeda, wearing the captain's armband with Robin Jansson out with a foot injury, swung a cross into the Toronto FC box that struck the hand of defender Matheus Pereira. Ojeda stepped up and drove the penalty low into the bottom-left corner in the 45th+1 minute at BMO Field, tying the match 1-1.

The goal was his 48th in all competitions for Orlando City, making him the club's all-time leading scorer. Field Level Media reported that he moved past Facundo Torres for the record.

The match ended 3-3 after Toronto equalized in the 90th minute.

A night built around set pieces

Lewis Morgan had headed in Theo Corbeanu's cross for a 1-0 lead in the first half, and according to Field Level Media, Ojeda's spot kick was Orlando's only shot on target before the break.

The Lions fell behind again four minutes after halftime, when Niklas Dorsch picked off a stray pass, Maxime Crépeau saved his one-on-one attempt and Corbeanu scored off the rebound.

Ojeda had a hand in the reply. In the 77th minute he sent a set piece into the area, Iago headed it across the goalmouth and Antoine Griezmann volleyed home from close range, per the club's match report. Six minutes later, Griezmann and Iván Angulo combined to set up substitute Daryl Dike, who finished first time for a 3-2 Orlando lead.

It held until the 90th minute. Crépeau parried a long-range shot from Djordje Mihailovic, and Pereira, who had conceded the penalty, turned the rebound in at the near post for his first goal with Toronto.

Where the Lions stand

The penalty was Ojeda's 15th goal of 2026 across all competitions, the most on the team, according to the club. Griezmann, who joined in July, scored his 10th MLS goal and has a goal or assist in nine straight league matches, while Angulo's assist was his 13th of the year.

Interim coach Martín Perelman said the visitors controlled long stretches. "The team came here and I think dominated the game and in normal situations we would win," he said. "It's a point on the road. Now we continue on our journey until the end."

Dike, who entered in the 67th minute, called the result frustrating. "Of course, we want to win, so it's frustrating to lose two points in the manner that we did," he said.

Orlando also played without Griffin Dorsey (back), Tyrese Spicer (foot), Justin Ellis (illness) and Marco Pašalić, who was suspended for yellow card accumulation.

The draw leaves Orlando City at 11-13-5 with 38 points, seventh in the Eastern Conference with five regular-season matches remaining. The Lions host D.C. United on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Inter&Co Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET, Apple TV).
