Cam Little's 57-yard kick as time expires lifts Jaguars past Eagles in London

Cam Little was raised on soccer and weekend Premier League broadcasts. On Sunday in London, he got to end an NFL game the way a striker finishes one.

Little's 57-yard field goal on the final play gave the Jacksonville Jaguars a 19-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He went 2-for-2 on field goals, a 34-yarder in the third quarter and the 57-yard winner, and made one of two extra points for seven points.

"It was the coolest moment of my career," Little said, per the Associated Press. He showed up to his postgame news conference in a Manchester United jersey, and after the kick he struck an arms-wide celebration modeled on England star Jude Bellingham.

Eight seconds, one second, zero time

Jake Elliott's 48-yard field goal with eight seconds left had put Philadelphia ahead 17-16. That lead lasted only as long as Ameer Abdullah's 53-yard kickoff return, which left one second on the clock for the final snap, the Jaguars and AP reported. Abdullah said afterward he "literally counted [time] in my head" on the return so the clock would not run out.

Jacksonville was also kicking without its usual long snapper. Ross Matiscik left with a first-quarter shoulder injury, and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton handled the snaps the rest of the afternoon, including on the winner, according to Jaguars.com.

The miss that made the finish necessary came after Parker Washington's 27-yard touchdown catch on fourth-and-5 with 3:20 left. Little's extra-point try sailed wide left, leaving Jacksonville up 16-14 instead of 17-14 and leaving room for Elliott's go-ahead kick.

Lawrence and Washington set the stage

Trevor Lawrence completed 24 of 39 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Both scores went to Washington, who finished with six catches for 124 yards, including a 51-yard touchdown that opened the scoring in the first quarter.

Philadelphia led 14-7 at the break after Will Shipley's 2-yard run and Darius Cooper's 62-yard touchdown catch from Jalen Hurts. The Eagles, without Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith, managed only 22 rushing yards. Hurts went 21 of 40 for 220 yards and a touchdown.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen called the win gritty rather than pretty. "Nobody flinched, nobody blinked, nobody blamed," he said, per the team. Lawrence summed up the afternoon: "One of the craziest games, maybe the craziest game I've ever been a part of."

Jacksonville improved to 4-1, won its third straight game and kept its early lead in the AFC South, according to Jaguars.com. The Jaguars stay in London next Sunday to host the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium.
